Some years later, Katherine apprenticed under a jewelry designer and patiently honed her skills. Her personal technique, reminiscent of the artful weaving and hand stitching of her early teachers, has evolved with the substitution of pearls, rich velvets, crystals, leather, glass beads and semi-precious stones, now her characteristic signature. In 2000, she opened her own studio where she designs and operates under the label Katherine Kingué.
Katherine has been passionate about fashion since she was a teenager. While most of her fellow students were spending traditional vacations with their families, Katherine would spend much of hers observing the operations of traditional silk weavers in the workshops of Lyon. Known as "canuts”, from these workrooms, Katherine became an accomplished artisan herself, mastering the craft with keen precision as required by the rules of art.
Bijoux Fantasia is privileged to represent Katherine Kingué,
